Codes Compliance

Washington County, Tennessee has adopted and is enforcing the 2012 International Residential Code. 
The purpose of this code is to provide minimum requirements to safeguard the public safety, health and general welfare through affordability, structural strength, means of egress facilities, stability, sanitation, light and ventilation, energy conservation and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment.

The following inspections are performed by the County Building Inspector:

  • Footer
  • Slab(if applicable)
  • Framing
  • Rough-In Plumbing
  • Rough-In Mechanical
  • Insulation
  • Plumbing
  • Mechanical
  • Final

All applicable inspections must be completed prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy.  A Certificate of Occupancy must be obtain prior to the occupancy of the structure.
