Mayor's Office

Joe Grandy is serving his second term as Washington County's Mayor. Grandy was initially elected in August, 2018.

The County Mayor is chief financial officer of the county. In the case of Washington County, which has grown to a population of more than 133,000, this entails managing a general fund budget exceeding $60 million.

The County Mayor also has care and custody of all county property. He has the power to appoint department heads, subject to confirmation by the County Commission. The Mayor serves terms of four years.

Staff

His staff is paid out of the general fund, and includes the purchasing, planning, zoning, benefits, solid waste and communications as well as the Office of Accounts and Budgets.
