Agriculture

Agriculture is the bedrock on which Washington County's historical foundation is laid, and it is still an important part of the county's cultural life and economy today.

To Market, To Market.....

Recent years have seen a resurgence of interest in knowing where our food comes from, and in local agricultural products. Area farmers markets play a big role in this and have grown rapidly in recent years. To learn more about Washington County's markets, visit the Jonesborough Farmers Market website.

All the markets traditionally open the first weekend in May. The Jonesborough Market is open Saturdays from 8 am to noon on the east side of the courthouse square. The Johnson City Market is downtown Johnson City and is open Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Gray market is at the intersection of Fair and Lakeview streets and is open from 7 am to noon Saturdays, and beginning in May, from 4 to 7 pm Mondays.
