- Ed Graybeal was sworn in on September 1, 2014 to begin serving his fourth term as Washington County Sheriff.
- Graybeal began his government career as an employee with the Washington County Highway Department in 1979. He became a deputy for the Sheriff's Department a year later, and was promoted to sergeant in 1981.
- Graybeal was promoted to lieutenant in 1991, and supervised the support services division until being named commander of the criminal investigation division in 1992. In 1993, Graybeal was transferred to the Patrol Division, where he became watch commander in 1994.
- Graybeal was promoted to Major in 1996, and acted as executive officer for the department until being promoted to Chief Deputy in 2002.
