Washington County native Kathy Storey was re-elected Washington County Clerk in August 2014. Storey grew up in what is now south Johnson City, just off of Cherokee Road and graduated from Lamar High School.
Storey completed her bachelor's degree in business administration at East Tennessee State University in 1973. After several years with a local accounting firm, she went to work in the clerk's office in 1981, eventually becoming chief deputy under Doyle Cloyd in the mid-1990s.
Storey and her staff will maintain the courteous service Washington County taxpayers have come to expect in the clerk's office, and customers can expect positive changes in the area of technology.
There are many great tools available that allow this office to make it easier, faster and more efficient for taxpayers to access our services, Storey says.
I plan to take full advantage of those by staying current with all the technology that comes available through both the state and private sector vendors. In the long run, this should save time and money for both taxpayers and this office, and allow me to run the Clerk's office more cost-effectively.
