Highway Department

The Washington County Highway Department maintains nearly 1,000 miles of county roads.

One of only three county highway departments in Tennessee with its own asphalt plant, the Department employs 88 people and uses nearly 300 pieces of equipment to provide drivers with safe roads in good repair. All through roads and the majority of dead ends in Washington County are recently paved. Very few counties in the nation can make such a claim.

Service Areas

Washington County's Highway Department is divided into four service areas, or "blocks," to create a more efficient way of serving the geographic regions of the county.
